It is an accepted evidenced based practice for treating PTSD and other life events that have resulted in emotional distress. EMDR helps to connect what we feel to what we know and allows an individual to reprocess something that is distressing in order for healing to occur.

There are 8 phases of EMDR

Phase 4:  Desensitization-decreasing distress

Phase 5: Installation-installing the new positive cognition
